What Is The Best Part Of Bucharest To Stay?

Planning a trip to Bucharest and wondering what is the best part of Bucharest to stay? Romania’s vibrant capital has a lot to offer: history, culture, nightlife, and charm—but where you stay can make or break your experience. In this blog, we’ll share our personal recommendation based on our own visit, and explore the best neighborhoods to help you find the perfect location for your trip.

Our Stay: Old Town Studio – Victoriei 2

During our trip, we stayed at Old Town Studio – Victoriei 2, located in the Central/Old Town area, right near Calea Victoriei. This is one of the most iconic streets in Bucharest and connects you directly to the city’s key attractions, such as Lipscani (a lot of restaurants!) but also the shopping area and the Parliament.

We stayed for 3 nights and we booked our apartment trough Booking.com. We loved this place!
In our opinion it has everything you need for a short stay.

  • Ideal location – Walking distance to both the Old Town and major landmarks like the Romanian Athenaeum and Revolution Square.
  • Great value for money – Affordable accommodation (€54 per night in March!) for a spacious 1-bedroom apartment + kitchen and balcony.
  • Atmosphere – A perfect balance between historical charm and modern energy. For some the furniture might be a little out-dated but for us this was part of the Bucharest vibe.

If you visit Bucharest for the first time – as we did – or simply want to be in the heart of the action, this area is hard to beat.

Best Neighborhoods to Stay in Bucharest

Here are some other areas to consider, depending on your preferences:

1. Old Town (Lipscani)

  • Best for: Nightlife, restaurants and sightseeing
  • Why: It’s lively, walkable, and full of energy. Great for those who want to be close to bars, restaurants, and historical architecture.
  • Keep in mind: Can be noisy at night, especially on weekends.

2. Piata Romana / Calea Victoriei

  • Best for: Central location, shopping
  • Why: Close to (high-end) shopping, museums, and beautiful early 20th-century architecture. Very walkable and well-connected to public transport.

3. Cotroceni

  • Best for: Quiet surroudings and a local vibe
  • Why: More residential and green, perfect for travelers who want to avoid tourist crowds but still be within reach of the center.

So, what is the best part to stay in Bucharest?

There’s no single answer—it really depends on your travel style and budget. But if you’re looking for history, nightlife, and convenience all in one, Old Town or Calea Victoriei is a fantastic choice—just like it was for us.
